Moms—Our First Fashion Figure

Mom are so much to us. They are our caretakers, providers, and role models, but have you ever stopped to think about the fashion figure your mom is to you? Think about it: our mothers are our first fashion figures, even before we understand what fashion is.

Before Barbie, there is mom. So how did your mother influence your fashion? Have you ever thought about it?

It has only been very recently that I have realized my mother’s personal role on my fashion sense and that of my sisters. And while I write to you right now, I can see my grandmother’s fashion influence on my mother.

Whether you have the best relationship with your mom or you don’t speak, she has influenced you. For good, bad, or ugly, her design sense has shaped your design sense. If you love your style sense, then thank her.

If you don’t, then choose to view everything with a new set of eyes being open and objective to everything you see.

And next time you are in the store or shopping online, and you see a garment that you absolutely love or hate, ask yourself, “What would mom think?”
